Helper’s Fire advocates for staff wellbeing and provides information for organizations, agencies and groups engaged in development and relief efforts.

Current activities
Representing government agencies, non-government organizations, development organizations and independent consultants, the DC Helper’s Fire group is well-placed to serve as an advocate for staff wellness, as an advisory group, and as an information resource for organizations, agencies and groups engaged in development and relief efforts.

Objectives
1. Every two years, organize international conference focusing on staff care

2. Develop and maintain Helper’s Fire website which will include current resources, research and promising practices.

3. Organize quarterly meeting to include presentations on staff care related topics, knowledge sharing and networking opportunities.

4. Maintain interactive list serve for members

Who we serve
The outcome of our efforts serves expatriate, third-country, and host country staff.

• Monthly knowledge sharing and networking meetings
• Peer training on staff care related topics
• Planning and running international conference focusing on staff care (Helper’s Fire II)
• Collaboration with the InterAction Staff Care Working Group
• Outreach and consciousness raising to the international development community on the need for staff wellbeing programs
