Helpers Fire II (May 18-20, 2008 in Denver, Colorado)

Building Resilient Organizations for Humanitarian and Development Assistance Field Workers. Hosted by the International Disaster Psychology Program in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver, this conference brought together practitioners, researchers, and other experts in the field to focus on key staff care issues for humanitarian and development workers and organizations.

Tending the Helpers Fire (March 4-6, 2004 in Notre Dame, Indiana)

Mitigating Trauma and Stress in International Staff and Volunteers. This first-ever effort in the U.S. examined how organizations provide psychosocial support to their expatriate and local staff and volunteers working overseas. Humanitarian and international development professionals from more than 60 organizations gathered for this groundbreaking conference organized by Idealist.org/Action Without Borders and hosted by the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. The Heart of Humanitarian Relief Staff Care Simulation (November 2008) in Washington, DC Presented by People In Aid and Headington Institute, Managing Staff Wellness in Crisis and Beyond.
