The process of returning home is an often overlooked challenge for humanitarian workers. "Home" implies a familiar place where one finds a shared culture and language, established routines and systems of support. However, returning after an overseas assignment may involve living in a new place, or returning to the same location only to find it has changed over time. Likewise, it is not just the worker who has changed; friends and family have changed as well.
